Recommendation:  That the Common Council approve the recommendation of the Street Superintendent and Local 133 to accept the bid from Cintas Corporation in the amount of $18,712.62 as the uniform vendor for the Street Department employees per the Agreement between the City of Oak Creek and Local 133 AFSCME.

Background:  During contract negotiations, the City of Oak Creek proposed to the Local 133 that the union accept a uniform policy.  An agreement was made between the City of Oak Creek and Local 133 that the Street Department employees along with the Engineering Field Crew, wear uniforms provided by the City with the cost of such uniforms not to exceed $20,000.00 per year.  

Request for bids were advertised and mailed to 6 major uniform vendors.  We received 5 bids total with the results as follows:

1. Cintas Corporation ------- $18,712.62

2. G & K Uniform Service -- $20,025.25

3. Industrial Towel ----------- $27,107.99

4. Alsco (American Industrial) --- Did not meet specifications

5. Spic ‘N Span –-------------------  Did not meet specifications

Fiscal Impact:  Funds in the amount of $20,000.00 will be included in the 2004 budget.
