Common Council Report

Recommendation: That the Common Council consider a motion to award the purchase of concrete pipe for the drainage improvements in S. 15^th Avenue from E. Ryan Road to 2000 feet north, to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, Waukesha Concrete Products, Inc., in the estimated amount of $38,760.32 (Project No. 01023) (3^rd and 4^th Aldermanic District).

Background: The drainage improvements were designed to reduce flooding in S. 15^th Avenue and were identified in the Storm Water Management Plan. R.A. Smith and Associates prepared plans. The Street Division will be constructing the project. The concrete pipe materials were advertised, and the following two bids were received. The bid received from American Concrete was not accompanied by a bid bond or certified check as required in the bidding documents. After reviewing this issue with the City Attorney, it is the Engineering Division’s recommendation to purchase the materials from the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, Waukesha Concrete Products, Inc.

This is a unit price bid. Thus, bids were evaluated based on estimated quantities.

Fiscal Impact: Payment for these materials will be funded from Project No. 01023.
