Parking Regulations

Wisconsin traffic laws prohibit the parking of any vehicle, whether attended or unattended, in any of the following places:

• Within an intersection.

• On a crosswalk.

• Closer than 15 feet to the near limits of a crosswalk.

• On a sidewalk

• Between a safety zone and the adjacent curb, or within 15 feet of the safety zone.

• In a loading zone.

• Upon any portion of a roadway where, and at the time when, parking is prohibited, limited, or restricted by an official traffic sign.

• Within 10 feet of a fire hydrant.

• Within 4 feet of the entrance to an alley or private road or driveway.

Additional parking restrictions.
• No motor vehicle may be parked “For Sale” or used for advertising on any roadway.

• No person may leave or park any motor vehicle on private property without the consent of the owner or lessee of the property. This includes parking cars “For Sale” in parking lots.

Parallel Parking.
• A vehicle shall be parked facing in the same direction of traffic with the right wheels within 12 inches of the curb or edge of the street.

• A vehicle shall be parked with its front end at least 2 feet from the vehicle in front and with its rear end at least 2 feet from the vehicle in the rear.

 

 

Winter Parking Restrictions. The parking of any vehicle on any roadway in the City of Oak Creek is prohibited:

• Between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, from December 1st to April 1st.

• Between 2:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., Saturdays and Sundays, from December 1st to April 1st.

The City of Oak Creek does not issue on-street parking permits; however, emergency overnight parking permission may be granted by the Police Department. Permission must be requested and granted prior to the vehicle being parked on the street overnight.

Additional parking restrictions and regulations are enforced in the City of Oak Creek, however those listed are the most common and those frequently violated.
