Business Development

The Community Development Department works with other departments, boards, commissions, and businesses to retain, attract, and enhance investment in the community to ensure a stable or growing tax base along with job retention and creation to aid in the economic health of the City. The City is excited to announce the following new business to the city.

Woodman's Food Markets Inc.

Woodman's Food Markets Inc. will open a store in Oak Creek in the spring of 2008. Construction will continue through the winter on a 237,000 square foot store on the west side of S. Howell Avenue, one block north of W. Forest Hill Avenue. Woodman's will be constructed on 29 acres of land that once held part of Delphi Manufacturing's campus.

The $15 million development will bring 250 jobs, 80 of which are full time, to the city. Per the Janesville company website, the company is employee owned and operates 12 stores in Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.
