PLEASE REGISTER EARLY TO VOTE!!!!

To avoid standing in long, long lines, we recommend that you register early to vote, particularly for the 2008 elections. There are several ways to register.

  • In person at City Hall Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Oak Creek Public Library during regular business hours
  • By Mail**
  • During a special voter registration event (future dates to be scheduled)

**To register by mail, you may print a copy of the voter registration application, complete and sign it, have your signature witnessed by a qualified elector (see definition below), and mail the completed paperwork to the City Clerk’s Office. You MUST include a copy of your current Wisconsin driver’s license or state-issued ID, or you will be required to present such identification before being permitted to vote in person at your polling location on election day.

To register to vote, you must be a qualified elector. A qualified elector must be at least 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen, a resident of the City for at least 10 days prior to registering to vote, and not be disqualified from voting for any of the reasons described in Wisconsin State Statutes Section 6.03. The following persons shall not be allowed to vote in any election and any attempt to vote shall be rejected:

  2. Any person who has been determined by a court to be incapable of understanding the objective of the elective process or who is under guardianship.
  3. Anyone who has made or become interested, directly or indirectly, in any bet or wager depending upon the result of the election.

You must present a form of ID showing proof of residence that includes:

  • A former Wisconsin resident who is ineligible to qualify as an elector in the state to which the elector has moved may only vote for President.
